Story
Closed wood-fired oven. The piece achieves this black color with the smoked clay technique. The oven is completely closed with wood for 16 hours at 1020 degrees Celsius. The smoke surrounds the piece and gives it a black color due to the firing process and not due to added pigments or glazes. It is an ancient technique of indigenous tradition that makes the piece more resistant to impacts.
